The 12th Avenue Thrift Store has four goals:
- Offer quality products of used clothing, furniture and small appliances for sale to the general public providing great customer service at a very reasonable price
- Utilize a retail services job-training program to provide employment training for Veterans
- Provide needed clothing, coats, shoes, etc for eligible OSDTN clients, men and women, at no cost to them
- Generate revenue to be a self-supporting entity and provide support to programs in our Veteran Service Center
OSDTN is blessed to be the recipient of quality men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, coats, shoes and accessories as well as furniture and small appliances. The public is welcome to come in and shop during store hours knowing that their purchases help support OSDTN and the services we provide to Veterans.
OSDTN clients are eligible for employment training through our retail services job-training program. They learn the basics of retail store operations and after a three to four month probationary period, the trainee splits work hours between the Thrift Store and an OSDTN Employment Counselor to find permanent employment.
Veterans served through the OSDTN Veteran Service Center obtain clothing vouchers that allow them to shop in our 12th Avenue Thrift Store for their clothes at no cost. They are able to pick out the size, style and color they prefer! When they go get ready to go that interview, a great first impression is made in their new business suit or work attire.
